RURAL NEWS! >>

MEPC Milton Park would like to inform you of the planned major highway improvements to the A34/ A4130 Milton Interchange. The improvements will be undertaken by Hope and Clay Construction Ltd on behalf of Oxfordshire County Council and funded by MEPC, the owners and operators of Milton Park.

Works are planned to commence in June 2008 and will continue until mid January 2009. The schedule of improvements will increase traffic capacity and ease congestion at peak times. Enclosed is a plan that illustrates the scheme, the key elements of which are summarised as follows:

1. Widen the circulatory carriageway around the roundabout to a minimum of three lanes.

2. Widen the exit from Milton Park to three lanes.

3. Install traffic signals at the exit from Milton Park, including pedestrian / cyclist crossing facilities.

4. Widen the A4130 westbound entry (from Didcot) to three lanes.

5. Install traffic signals at the A4130 westbound entry (from Didcot), including pedestrian / cyclist crossing facilities.

6. Provide pedestrian / cyclist crossing facilities across the circulatory carriageway at the junction with the A34 northbound off slip.

7. Widen the A4130 westbound exit (to Steventon Hill) to provide a two into one lane merge.

8. Widen the A4130 eastbound entry (from Steventon Hill) to three lanes.

9. Install traffic signals at the A4130 eastbound entry (from Steventon Hill).

10. Provide footway / cycleway around roundabout central island from A34 northbound off slip to entry from Milton Park.

11. Widen and reconstruct to dual carriageway standards the A4130 eastwards from Milton Interchange towards Didcot.

12. Provide dedicated right turn lane from the A4130 to the petrol filling station.

13. Provide new signal controlled junction on the A4130 at the access to Site 1, Milton Park.

14. Improve pedestrian / cyclist facilities along the A4130 eastwards from Milton Interchange towards Didcot.

15. Provide a comprehensive re-landscaping scheme to mitigate the loss of trees and other wildlife habitat.

The need to minimise disruption to all road users during construction will be the primary consideration during the planning and execution of the works. Further information and updates can be obtained by calling the Council Highway enquiries on 0845 310 11 11.

Yours faithfully
